Walks
From the BIG4 Ulverstone Holiday Park, take a picturesque walk along the beautiful sandy beach past the surf club, and then through the numerous parks with childrens playgrounds and coastal views. The course is flat with footpaths, grass and beach. Approx return time 50 to 60 minutes.
Do the tourist trek starting at Ulverstone's tallest landmark, the Memorial Clock. Call into the Visitor Information Centre, Ulverstone Museum and visit the many historic sites. Approx return time 20 to 30 minutes along a flat course with footpaths and sealed surfaces.
Walk alongside the beautiful Leven River to where it meets Bass Straight. Approx return time 30 to 40 minutes.
Half Day Trips
Drive inland from Ulverstone and view mountains, wildlife, waterfalls, caves, gardens and Tasmania's deepest limestone gulch - the magnificent Leven Canyon. On leaving Ulverstone, take the inland route to Upper Castra. Drive through undulating farmland as you head toward Leven Canyon. Enjoy the breathtaking 20 minute return walk to a spectacular lookout with the Leven River winding 300 meters below.
On the return journey, stop off at Kaydale Lodge Gardens where you can enjoy 2 hectares of landscaped gardens featuring waterfalls, rockery, zen garden and more. Perhaps partake in a light lunch or morning or afternoon tea. See Preston Falls and then visit the Leven Valley Vineyard for wine tasting.
 Stop off at the amazing Gunns Plains Caves featuring glowworms, an underground stream and spectacular formations. Visit Wings Wildlife Park to handfeed trout and see Australia's largest collection of Tasmanian wildlife. View Tassie's first crocodiles. Return to the small coastal town of Penguin to view tiny Fairy Penguins at dusk, and then take the scenic route back to Ulverstone.
Just a short 30 minute drive from Ulverstone is the City of Burnie. Make your own paper by hand, visit the Pioneer Village Museum, or you may even see platypuses in their natural habitat at Fernglade. Stop off for some cheese tasting and visit the Alpaca Park at Guide Falls.
Drive further east to Wynyard and see one of the largest freshwater invertebrates in the world. Walk through hectares of vibrant colour in Australia's largest area of tulips. See the magnificent views from the Table Cape Lookout.
Full Day Trips
Experience the magic that is Cradle Mountain. A journey to Cradle Country takes you through patchwork fertile farmlands. Watch chocolates being handmade at the House of Anvers near Latrobe, stop and look at the historic murals in Sheffield, visit the village of Lower Crackpot to see the worlds largest maze complex, the living topiary sculptures of Railton and the wacky Wilmot mailbox trail. Climb to the top of Mt Roland for dramatic views from Cradle Mountain to the sea. Take an easy but beautiful walk around Dove Lake at the base of Cradle Mountain. Cradle Mountain National Park is a spectacular alpine wilderness just waiting for you to explore.
